Texas Dreamin' insights

I was at Texas Dreamin' this week. Here are some of my takeaways:

  1. Generative AI is the darling of the Salesforce conference circuit this year. Any talk that had the words "GPT" in it was well-attended. Whether or not the content was useful is another story.
  2. Admins: learn Flows. If you're digging your head in the sand because you don't want to learn it, you will be left behind.
  3. Some Systems Integrators are on a hiring freeze, but could make an exception for niche Salesforce knowledge like Marketing Cloud.
  4. Whether you like it or not, alcohol is a lubricant for relationships. New job opportunities, business dealings, and relationships form at happy hours.
  5. To understand people's behaviors, focus on incentives. Consider Salesforce Account Executives who sell software that offers no benefit to businesses & then abandon the customer once they sign up. According to my interpretation of Jim Noth's (Salesforce's EVP of Customer Success) speech, pay attention to the possibility of linking AE compensation to the customer's success with Salesforce.
  6. Lots of Salesforce professionals want to leave their current role. In private conversations, they cite their management, not being challenged enough, and lower pay as their reasons for wanting to make a jump.
