Salesforce announced a new Salesforce AI certification. Should you take it?

Salesforce announced the Salesforce AI Associate Credential Exam, an initiative focusing on the integration of AI principles within the CRM space. It's crafted for individuals across various proficiency levels in AI, ensuring foundational knowledge in AI applications and data usage within CRM frameworks.

Who should be taking this exam?

According to Salesforce, Salesforce customers should have a basic understanding of Salesforce's core functionalities. They should be acquainted with:

  • AI fundamentals, including predictive analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
  • The ethical, privacy, and security considerations associated with data use in artificial intelligence.
  • Data quality and its relevance in artificial intelligence models.
  • Engaging discussions about artificial intelligence's potential benefits and challenges in business contexts.

However, in-depth expertise in AI model integration with Salesforce, advanced AI techniques, or Salesforce product development is not necessary. It's not like you're going to have to be an expert in deep learning or know who Salesforce's AI researchers are.

Salesforce AI certification exam structure:

  • Questions: 40 multiple-choice.
  • Duration: 70 minutes.
  • Pass Percentage: 65%.
  • Registration Cost: $75 USD (excluding taxes).
  • Retake: Free of charge.
  • Environment: Onsite or online proctored settings.
  • Post-Exam: An optional survey for feedback.

How Salesforce recommends you prep for the Salesforce AI Certification exam:

For best results, candidates should blend practical experience with formal training, Trailhead Trails, and dedicated self-study. Salesforce suggests using their Trailmix titled "Prepare for Your Salesforce AI Associate Credential" and the "Salesforce AI Associate Certification Prep" module. Additionally, having the "Salesforce Certified Associate" certification can be beneficial, though it isn't obligatory.

Here’s how the exam content breaks down:

  • AI Fundamentals (17%): Basics of AI within Salesforce and distinguishing AI types.
  • AI Capabilities in CRM (8%): CRM AI functionalities and associated benefits.
  • Ethical Aspects of AI (39%): Ethical challenges in AI and Salesforce's Trusted AI Principles.
  • Data for AI (36%): Importance and elements of data quality in AI.

Salesforce's Code of Conduct:

Salesforce says trust and integrity are paramount for them. So, they expect candidates to strictly use Salesforce's authorized study materials, collaborate ethically with peers, and maintain exam integrity.

So no certification dumps!

If candidates violate this, it could lead to severe consequences, including revoking certifications.

Maintaining the Salesforce AI certification:

Once you're certified, there's no mandated maintenance (for now). However, Salesforce recommends you continuously learn on platforms like the Trailblazer Community and Trailhead.
