"Do you ever meet people who are burned out?"
That quote got me thinking about those clamoring to enter the Salesforce ecosystem.
And it's the question Doug DeMuro, YouTube creator and entrepreneur, asked on the Colin and Samir Show.
Samir Chaudry had an excellent response.
"We've been there...then you have to take another step back and be like 'I'm not trying to build myself a jail.' I'm not trying to build myself a box that I have to be in. You have to take control of that moment and be like 'What is it that's not working here?'"
Yes - the allures of a Salesforce job are enticing. And there's a simple and repeatable process to get there. But some people hold so dearly to that ideal that they become desperate.
They cut corners when they don't grasp the Salesforce concepts necessary to land a job. But they need money to survive.
They get antsy when they see other people land jobs much faster than them. Why can't they do it?
And eventually, they burn themselves out because they give themselves an unrealistic timeline to attain their first Salesforce job.
Instead, ask: what is it that's not working here?
Do you genuinely understand the Salesforce concepts to help another company be successful with platform?
Have you tapped into your network to identify Salesforce roles that get filled before you see them on a job board?
Can you tell compelling stories about your Salesforce experience in an interview?
Is your resume and LinkedIn crisp?
Tweaking one of those variables will help you identify what's not working.
Then you'll get yourself out of the jail you've built yourself.
